Hailing from West Virginia by way of Montreal, Jax Lastinger is passionate about social justice and liberation for marginalized people. Jax is a second year master's student at the Graduate School of Education, studying Education, Culture and Society.  Some key areas of interest for them include trans issues, queerness, anti-racism, and ableism. Their research focuses on the experiences of trans youth in K-12 schools and the ways they mobilize online spaces, specifically YouTube, to their advantage. Before arriving to Penn, Jax completed a bachelors in Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality, Feminist, and Social Justice at McGill University (Class of 2017). Outside of school and work, Jax enjoys biking, textile arts, and playing with their cat.
